``I use my emotional journey to paint pictures in my songs`` she says.
Born to sing straight from the heart, Hanna has been devoted to her music and songwriting since adolescence, sharing her talents generously and elevating the quality of all the bands she has worked with.
Characteristically versatile and eclectic her voices range from sexy soulful to airy ambient, the sound from funk to folk.
BACKGROUND
Hanna started out as a musician when she was 13, winning a regional talent contest.
A Gloucestershire born girl, since moving to Brighton Hanna has been a featured multi-instrumentalist in many bands, demonstrating an exceptional flair for both lead and harmony vocals.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
Pan, a dub, funk house groove band that toured most of England and Europe in the 90`s.
The Fold is an original and long-standing folk-rock group with whom she regularly performs.
Hanna and Magdalena (formerly Shamana), a deeply powerful female folk-jazz duo. Latest 7 Brighton said of Invisible Threads, “An album packed with songs women everywhere will identify with and men will love”.
SESSION WORK
Hanna is also a hugely in demand session singer.
Featured on 20 albums – as a session artist, including the hotter than hot kings of hip hop Greenkeepers, rock legend Arthur ‘Fire’ Brown, and the new Serge Gainsbourg Mister Bogus, who says of Hanna, ``For sessions her speed and versatility are the key to her success. You have an idea; soul, rock, operatic, and she’ll deliver it with 100% feeling``.
Hanna sings harmonies effortlessly and plays guitar, flute and mandolin fluently.
TEACHING
Hanna has always been a spiritually guided person and her songs address the concerns of modern women, touching upon burning issues and making a heart-felt plea for harmony in relationships, both personal and environmental – mother Earth. She is now passing on her knowledge and skills by teaching composition and performance, particularly to children.
STUDYING
``You can never stop learning’ Hanna says, taking up further studies of music and spirituality with people she admires and feels inspired by. This keeps her passion alive and strong.
